Branigan Cultural Center seeks exhibit proposals for 2027-2028 presentations

The Branigan Cultural Center announced on Apr. 16 that it is accepting proposals for exhibits focusing on cultural and historical themes related to the Borderlands and the U.S. Southwest, to be presented in 2027 and 2028.

This call for submissions aims to highlight a wide range of topics addressing both historic and contemporary issues relevant to the region. The center invites formal and informal scholars, cultural heritage organizations, as well as solo artists or groups, to submit their ideas through an online form available at the Las Cruces Museums website.

Applications must include a narrative about the exhibit theme, a statement from the proposer, five to ten images of objects or artwork intended for display, and information about space requirements. Exhibitions are scheduled to run between twelve and sixteen weeks each. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered; all materials must be submitted by 5 p.m. Mountain time on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Previous exhibitions at Branigan Cultural Center have explored topics such as life at Stahmann Farm ranchos, historic photographs from Ballard Photo Studio, water’s impact on the Borderlands region, agave fields used in tequila production, ceramics depicting Mesilla Valley wildlife, and Día de los Muertos photography.

The Branigan Cultural Center is located at 501 N. Main St., open Tuesday through Saturday with no admission charge. The museum can be reached via Roadrunner Transit Route 1 Stop 1 or by calling (575) 541-2154 for more details.
