The City of Las Cruces is inviting the public to attend a dedication ceremony for “Allochory,” a new public art sculpture installed on the exterior of City Hall. The event will take place from 10 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at City Hall near the flagpoles at 700 N. Main St.

“Allochory” was created by artist Jamie Spinello and is inspired by the pods of the red yucca plant, which grows in the area surrounding the sculpture. The piece is constructed from aluminum panels and features an abstract design.

Funding for this artwork came from New Mexico Arts’ “Art In Public Places” (AIPP) program. A committee made up of staff members, City Art Board representatives, and a community member selected “Allochory” as one of six pieces from the AIPP catalog for installation at City Hall.

For more information about the dedication or the sculpture, Ceci Vasconcellos, Public Art Coordinator, can be contacted at (575) 541-2780/TTY711 or via email.
