DASO shows love in Doña Ana County!
‘Amigos’ is a Spanish word meaning friends. We realize the importance of friends in the lives of those whose worlds have become smaller, either through illness or age. That is why the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office (DASO) seeks to build relationships with this segment of our County through one-on-one visits each month with the Amigos de DASO Senior Program.
Often, loved ones live a significant distance away and must rely on other means to communicate and check on a family member. This program allows DASO to engage with our senior residents and potentially offer information about resources they might need. If necessary, we can also alert out-of-town relatives of any changes or issues with the Amigo.
Requirements for the Amigo to enter the program are:
* must live in Doña Ana County;
* be willing and able to accept regular visits/phone calls from a DASO staff member;
* be 60+ years of age or have a qualifying health problem;
