U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez, who serves New Mexico’s 2nd district in Congress, shared updates on recent community events and initiatives through his social media posts on July 28 and 29, 2025.

On July 28, Vasquez highlighted the opening of a new Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) facility in Sunland Park. In his post, he stated: “This morning, I attended the City of Sunland Park MVD ribbon cutting. This new facility looks beautiful, and it’s more than just a building; it represents our community’s shared commitment to providing better services for the people of Sunland Park. I will continue to bring https://t.co/zxUFBlzK6u”.

Later that evening, Vasquez introduced the founding members of a bipartisan group focused on public lands policy. He wrote: “Meet the founding leaders of your bipartisan Public Lands Caucus! Proud to be working with them to keep our public lands in public hands. https://t.co/NMLC2w4noa” (July 29).

In another post on July 29, Vasquez addressed residents affected by severe weather in Lincoln County that began on June 23. He encouraged those impacted to seek assistance: “If you live in Lincoln County and have been impacted by the severe weather that began June 23, face-to-face help is available. Come get support applying for federal assistance, including grants from FEMA or low-interest SBA loans! https://t.co/61DTPI1ofa”.

Vasquez has served as U.S. Representative since replacing Yvette Herrell in 2023 after winning the general election with 52.1% of the vote compared to Herrell’s 47.9%. He continues to focus on local service delivery and legislative collaboration regarding public lands as part of his congressional agenda.
