Rep. John Block, a Republican member of the New Mexico State House representing the 51st district since 2023, posted several critical statements on his social media account on September 5, 2025. The tweets addressed issues ranging from federal representation to state budgeting and public policy in New Mexico.
In a post made at 01:32 UTC, Block commented on U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján’s performance, stating: “Ben Ray Luján is the Peter Principle in action — a man elevated far beyond his competence. Every day in Washington he embarrasses New Mexico.”
Later that morning at 03:26 UTC, Block questioned the fiscal policies of the New Mexico Democratic Party by writing: “What is ‘repsonisible budgeting,’ @NMDEMS?”
In another tweet posted at 16:24 UTC, Block criticized various aspects of state governance and public safety while referencing Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s legislative priorities: “Doctors are fleeing NM, children are dying under CYFD custody, NM streets are literal war zones, and MLG wants to call a special session to… fund ‘public broadcasting’ (AKA state-run propaganda).”
Block has served as the representative for New Mexico’s 51st House district since his election in 2023, succeeding Rachel Black.
