Las Cruces firefighters assisted Doña Ana County with a residential structure fire on April 26. The incident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. on the 9400 block of Hondo Road, according to the Las Cruces Fire Department.
The response included two engines, a battalion, and one truck company from Las Cruces. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy wind-driven fire conditions that made the situation more challenging. Firefighters provided water supply support and helped suppress the blaze alongside county teams.
Due to high winds, the fire spread throughout the structure, including into attic spaces and areas below the building. The blaze was brought under control within 20 minutes, but crews remained at the scene for about an hour to ensure all hotspots were extinguished.
