Las Cruces police will set up at least one sobriety checkpoint and conduct a saturation patrol within city limits during the Labor Day Weekend. These actions are part of ongoing efforts to enforce DWI laws, which will continue throughout September.

The department urges anyone planning to drink alcohol to use a ride-share service or arrange for a designated driver who will not be consuming alcoholic beverages. “Las Cruces police encourage those who plan on consuming alcoholic beverages to utilize a ride-share or designated driver – someone who will not be drinking alcoholic beverages – for their transportation needs.”

These enforcement measures coincide with national efforts to reduce impaired driving during holiday weekends, when incidents tend to increase.

Police said these checkpoints and patrols aim to keep roads safer for all residents and visitors in Las Cruces.
