Las Cruces police will be conducting at least one sobriety checkpoint and one saturation patrol within city limits between August 21 and August 31, 2025. The initiative aims to reduce and eliminate the number of motorists who drive while intoxicated or impaired.

According to the Las Cruces Police Department, “Sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols are intended to reduce and eliminate the number of motorists who drive while intoxicated or impaired.”

Authorities encourage individuals planning to consume alcoholic beverages to use ride-share services or a designated driver for transportation. As stated by the department, “Las Cruces police encourage those who plan on consuming alcoholic beverages to utilize a ride-share or designated driver – someone who will not be drinking alcoholic beverages – for their transportation needs.”

These efforts are part of ongoing measures in Las Cruces to address public safety concerns related to impaired driving.
