Las Cruces Public Schools is holding two information sessions to explain the priorities behind the upcoming school bond and mill levy election. Superintendent Ignacio Ruiz will lead these sessions, which aim to inform voters about how the proposed measures will support student learning, maintain facilities, and continue investments in safe, modern school environments without increasing the tax rate.

A key focus for the district is to use bond funding to begin renovations at Mayfield High School. This project was discussed in a previous meeting with parents and staff.

The first session will take place on Wednesday, October 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the Dr. Karen M. Trujillo Administration Complex, located at 505 S. Main St., Suite 249. This event will be livestreamed on LCPS-TV via the LCPS YouTube channel, where viewers can participate by submitting questions through live chat.

The second session is scheduled for Thursday, October 23 at 6:00 p.m. at the Organ Mountain High School Performing Arts Center and will be held in person only.

Superintendent Ignacio Ruiz stated, “The sessions are designed to help voters in the November election understand how the proposed measures support student learning, maintain facilities, and continue investments in safe, modern school environments, all without increasing the tax rate.”

Early voting runs through November 1, with Election Day set for November 4. Additional details about the district’s bond priorities are available on the LCPS school bond page on the district website.
