Las Cruces Public Schools is calling for community volunteers to join its Budget Survey Committee for the upcoming fiscal year. The committee’s role will be to review information gathered from a budget survey distributed by the district. This data will then be presented to the Finance Subcommittee in October and shared with stakeholders in November.

According to the district, information collected by the committee will also be included in Budget Town Hall meetings and will play a part in forming next year’s proposed budget.

Applications are due by 8 a.m. on Thursday, August 28. Members of the committee will be selected through a random drawing, which will be livestreamed at 3:00 p.m. on that day. Those chosen will receive notification by 5 p.m.

The committee aims to include a variety of viewpoints from across the community, selecting sixteen people: four parents of LCPS students, four certified staff members, four classified staff members, and four administrators from within Las Cruces Public Schools. Participation requires attending three meetings at the Dr. Karen M. Trujillo Administration Complex located at 505 S Main Street in Las Cruces on September 2, September 9, and September 16; all meetings start at 5 p.m.
