Las Cruces Utilities (LCU) has announced the addition of three new interns to its internship program. Andy Gomez, Christopher Gomez, and Diego Pimentel were recognized at a signing ceremony held in the Las Cruces City Hall Council Chambers.

The LCU Internship Program is designed to support students pursuing degrees in utilities-related technology and operations. According to LCU, applicants went through an interview process at the beginning of June before being selected for educational scholarships. Each intern will complete a designated Technology Program at Dona Ana Community College, as outlined by the LCU Internship Guideline.

The program covers housing, food, books, tuition, and other fees related to coursework and certifications. In addition to financial support, interns receive on-the-job training with up to 20 hours of paid work per week during school sessions and 40 hours per week during summer breaks and holidays. All three have committed to employment with LCU following graduation.

LCU states that its internship program was implemented eight years ago and currently employs several graduates from previous cohorts. The initiative aims to maintain reliable utility services for the community.
