The New Mexico State men’s golf team finished in ninth place at the Mossy Oak Collegiate, according to an April 14 announcement. The tournament marked the end of the Aggies’ regular season for the 2025-26 campaign and featured a strong field that included three teams ranked in the top-20.
The team’s performance is notable as it concluded their regular season against high-level competition. Their total score over three rounds was 884 (+20), with round scores of even-par 288, followed by a 301 (+13) and a closing round of 295 (+7) at Mossy Oak Golf Club.
During the event, New Mexico State outperformed several Conference USA opponents, finishing ahead of UTEP and Middle Tennessee (both tied for fourteenth at +27), as well as LA Tech and Sam Houston (both tied for seventeenth at +37).
Mateo Payán led the Aggies individually, tying for seventh place overall with a total score of 212 (-4). Payán opened with a round of 69 (-3) and followed up with rounds of 72 and 71. Javier Delgadillo finished tied for sixtieth at 225 (+9), improving his position after shooting a steady second-round score of 73. Ethan Klose rebounded from a difficult second round to post a final-round score of 74, ending tied for sixty-ninth at +11 overall.
Kostka Horno began his tournament strongly with an opening round of two-under-par but ultimately finished tied for seventy-third at +13. Max Chan rounded out the lineup in ninety-ninth place with a total score of +23.
