NM State reported on Apr. 25 that its track and field teams achieved three event wins and 18 top-five finishes at the Don Kirby Twilight meet in Albuquerque, hosted by the University of New Mexico. The team participated with a smaller group as it prepares for the upcoming Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The meet featured strong performances from both women’s and men’s squads. In Las Cruces, Kamryn Cadle led an all-Aggie podium in the hammer throw with a mark of 52.04 meters, followed by Julia Nystrand and Samonne Cauley. Cauley also set a personal best in shot put to take second place, while Avery Jordan finished third with her best result in Albuquerque.

Aileen Alvarado earned her fourth top-two finish of the outdoor season by placing second in high jump. Alesha Lane took first place in discus for the third time this season, achieving a mark of 51.88 meters. Kennedy Taylor competed for the first time this outdoor season, finishing fifth in the 400m race.

On the men’s side, Jonah Archer set a new personal best on the track with a time of 10:06.65. Orion Chavez made his debut in the 800m event, taking seventh place, while teammates Angel Maese and Nick Allred secured additional top-10 finishes.

The Aggies totaled three event victories across both squads along with several personal records during their penultimate regular-season competition.

Looking ahead, NM State will conclude its regular season at the Desert Heat Classic on May 2 in Tucson before turning attention to conference championships.
