The Board of Regents at New Mexico State University will hold a series of closed meetings and orientation work sessions from August 4 to August 6 on the Las Cruces campus. According to the university, no votes or official actions are scheduled during these sessions.

On Monday, August 4, regents will meet at 1:30 p.m. in Hadley Hall, Room 130, for a closed session focused on pending litigation. This discussion is held under NMSA Section 10-15-1 H(7) of the New Mexico Open Meetings Act. Later that day at 3:30 p.m., another closed meeting will address potential real property or water rights transactions as allowed by NMSA Section 10-15-1(H)(8), along with further discussion of pending litigation protected by attorney-client privilege under NMSA subsection 10-15-1(H)(7).

Work sessions continue on Tuesday, August 5. At 2 p.m., regents will discuss legal compliance and fiduciary duties in Hadley Hall, Room 130. Another session at 3:30 p.m. that day will focus on strategic planning.

On Friday, August 6, a closed meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. in Hadley Hall, Room 130. The agenda includes an interim performance assessment of NMSU President Valerio Ferme under his contract, which falls under the personnel matters exemption of the New Mexico Open Meetings Act (NMSA Section 10-15-1(H)(2)).
