Rep. Gabe Vasquez, U.S. Congressman representing New Mexico’s 2nd district, shared updates on his recent activities and initiatives through a series of posts on July 31, 2025.
In one post, Vasquez reported his visit to an ICE processing facility in Otero County. He stated, “I visted the ICE processing facility in Otero County where I learned that over 80% of the detainees have no criminal charge and no conviction.” (July 31, 2025).
Later that day, Vasquez marked National Intern Day by encouraging applications for internships with his offices. He wrote, “Happy #NationalInternDay ! There’s still time to apply for Fall internships with my D.C. and district offices. Applications close August 8. Visit https://t.co/ArijIcsAj4 to learn more.” (July 31, 2025).
He also highlighted community engagement efforts following a meeting in Chaparral with local residents and Rep. Sarah Silva: “Had a great community meeting with residents of Chaparral and Rep. Sarah Silva last night. It’s always a pleasure to hear from you all, and thanks for having me.” (July 31, 2025).
Vasquez has served as the representative for New Mexico’s 2nd congressional district since replacing Yvette Herrell in 2023 after winning the general election with just over half the vote.
