Rep. Gabe Vasquez, who represents New Mexico’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared a series of posts addressing legislative efforts on border security, criticism of Republican tax policy, and ongoing violence in Gaza.
On July 20, Vasquez highlighted his recent legislative initiatives, stating: “Last week, I introduced the Stop COYOTES Act and the No More Narcos Act to stop human smugglers, fentanyl traffickers, and cartels in our border communities. I’m proud to share that the Las Cruces and Sunland Park Police Departments agree these bills are a step in the right”.
A day later, on July 21, Vasquez addressed economic issues and criticized Republican-backed legislation: “Republicans say their tax bill supports working families—but when you look closer, you’ll see that it just makes life more expensive, gutting funding for health care, food assistance, and the programs our communities rely on. If you work hard, you should be able to afford a home,”.
On July 22, he commented on international affairs by calling for an end to hostilities abroad: “The violence in Gaza has got to stop, and the administration can do something about it.”
Vasquez has served as U.S. Representative for New Mexico’s 2nd District since 2023 after succeeding Yvette Herrell. Born in El Paso in 1984 and now residing in Las Cruces, he is an alumnus of New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree earned in 2008.
