Rep. John Block, a Republican member of the New Mexico State House representing the 51st district since 2023, recently made several statements on his social media account addressing law enforcement and political boundaries in New Mexico.
On August 6, 2025, Block called for significant changes to law enforcement resources in Albuquerque, writing: “Defund each and every one of them and quadruple the number of agents in all — especially the lawless Albuquerque.”
Later that day, he commented on electoral boundaries within the state: “Further proof NM is THE MOST GERRYMANDERED STATE IN THE COUNTRY.” These remarks reflect ongoing debates about redistricting and representation in New Mexico.
On August 7, 2025, Block shifted tone with a lighter post referencing consumer brands: “Is it time to buy a new pair of American Eagle jeans and grab a delicious cup of Dunkin’ coffee? “
Block was elected to the New Mexico State House in 2023, succeeding Rachel Black as representative for District 51.
