From January 14, 2023 post.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. used the power of words and non-violent resistance to achieve change. Dr. King’s message in the 1960’s still rings true today and resonates with Doña Ana County residents, across our nation, and the world. Despite the tension, uncertainty and challenges that persist, we commemorate Dr. King’s legacy and realize we have more work to do.

We support organizations like the Doña Ana County NAACP that will host an MLK rally at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15 at the Plaza de Las Cruces, where Jamar Cotton will be the keynote speaker and its annual breakfast at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16 at the Las Cruces Convention Center. Both events will be open to the public and we hope you will attend. For more information, please visit https://naacpdac.org/

Accepting the proclamation from the Doña Ana Board of County Commissioners (pictured back row) are: Howard Guion, Dr. Bobbie Green, Fernando Macias, Jamar Cotton, Paul Johnson, Cindy Pitts, and Gabriela Cotton (pictured front row).
