Ruben Salcido joined the Doña Ana County Detention Center on November 4, 2002 as a Detention Officer.  He was promoted to Senior Detention Officer in 2003 and to sergeant in 2008.

In 2014, he was promoted to Lieutenant. In his current role, he leads the Training Department and coordinates each training academy for newly hired cadets.  He thoroughly enjoys this role because his strength at work is sharing the knowledge he has accumulated over the past two decades.

His supervisor, Capt. Ben Mendoza, said Lt. Salcido has been the commander of the facilities Special Operations Response Team (S.O.R.T.) for several years and his dedication to the facility is valued and recognized by all the staff.  He is respected as a strong leader among his peers.

Lt. Salcido is most proud of seeing officers he once trained grow in their careers at the Detention Center. He enjoys seeing the contributions they make to the team and watching them move up the ranks.

Lt. Salcido is thankful for his “work family” for making the job enjoyable and giving him a reason to keep at it and do the best job he can do each day. When not at work, he enjoys target shooting, shooting bow, hunting and fishing.

We thank Ruben for his dedication and commitment to training new cadets and sharing his knowledge. Please join us in congratulating Lt. Ruben Salcido on his 20-year work anniversary of commitment to our community and dedicated service at the Doña Ana County Detention Center!
