Las Cruces Public Schools Superintendent Ignacio Ruiz shared a message on Thursday following a series of social media threats directed at schools. In the video, Ruiz emphasized the importance of understanding that violence, including threats of violence, is unacceptable on school campuses.

Ruiz stated, "Please share this video and help us spread the word that violence, including the threat of violence, has no place on our school campuses. Sharing these messages is unlawful, disruptive, and can lead to serious consequences."

He further highlighted the need for parents and guardians to discuss with their children the gravity of posting threats on social media. "It's crucial to talk to our kids about the seriousness of posting threats on social media. What may seem like a joke can have serious consequences," Ruiz said.

The superintendent called for collective efforts to maintain safe environments in schools. He also reminded the community that suspicious activities could be reported anonymously using the STOPIt app, with more information available on how to download it.
