Carlos Murguia, director of the Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship at New Mexico State University (NMSU), has successfully completed the Center Leader Academy Certification program. This achievement is significant for the Hunt Center's mission to boost the entrepreneurial landscape regionally and internationally.
The Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers recognized a gap in training for leaders of entrepreneurship centers and collaborated with the Center Leader Academy to address this. The certification program, developed by experienced directors worldwide, equips participants with essential skills for managing and innovating within entrepreneurship centers. The curriculum includes over 30 contact hours covering leadership strategies, ecosystem activation, programming development, and resource management.
Murguia emphasized that completing the program enables him to better guide the Hunt Center on various levels. “This achievement will help me better guide the Hunt Center at all levels regionally, nationally and internationally,” he stated. He noted that integrating advanced practices would enhance programs offered to students, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders across the Borderplex region.
The Hunt Center aims to strengthen regional entrepreneurship by empowering diverse communities, educating students about innovative market solutions, and expanding access to early-stage investment. The insights gained from this certification are expected to enhance its ability to create impactful programs supporting long-term growth.
Dana Catron, interim director and CEO of Arrowhead Center, praised Murguia's accomplishment as evidence of his commitment to excellence. “Carlos’s completion of the Center Leader Academy Certification is a testament to his commitment to excellence and the continuous growth of the Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship,” she said. Catron highlighted how this achievement aligns with Arrowhead's mission to foster talent and support economic development in the Borderplex region.
The new certification will allow the Hunt Center to share acquired knowledge through workshops and training sessions, offering new learning opportunities for regional partners. These initiatives are designed to champion innovation and contribute significantly to local economic development.
