Members of the Las Cruces Fire Department's Technical Rescue Team collaborated with Mesilla Valley Search and Rescue, Organ Search and Rescue, New Mexico State Police, and the Bureau of Land Management to assist two hikers who became disoriented in the Organ Mountains on Sunday evening.

The Technical Rescue Team was activated around 8:30 p.m. on January 19, 2025, after reports emerged about two hikers lost in the Dripping Springs area of the Organ Mountains. As temperatures tend to drop rapidly after sunset at that elevation during this time of year, a prompt response was crucial.

The combined efforts of all rescue teams led to locating the hikers and safely guiding them off the trail. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the operation. The mission concluded shortly before 3 a.m. on Monday, January 20.
