Las Cruces police are investigating a three-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a 54-year-old man on Sunday evening. The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on February 2, 2025, on the 900 block of North Valley Drive.
According to traffic investigators, a 2024 black Nissan Armada was traveling north at high speed when it rear-ended a silver Chevrolet Malibu. The impact caused the Malibu to enter the southbound lanes and sideswipe an orange Ford Mustang.
The driver of the Armada, identified as Michael James Massa from Bellflower, California, was taken to Mountainview Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries. The driver of the Malibu and two occupants of the Mustang were also transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash led to a temporary closure of part of Valley Drive while police conducted their investigation.
