Gabe Vasquez, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing New Mexico’s 2nd district since 2023, has recently shared his views on social media regarding various political issues. Born in El Paso, Texas, in 1984 and now residing in Las Cruces, Vasquez holds a BA from New Mexico State University.
On May 15, 2025, Vasquez tweeted: “My colleagues agree: This isn’t complicated — it’s the basic difference between right and wrong.” This statement highlights a consensus among his peers on what he describes as a fundamental ethical issue.
In another tweet posted shortly after on the same day, Vasquez quoted Angie Craig: “If the shoe were on the other foot and a Democratic administration were canceling farmer contracts you’d be raising all kinds of hell.” The comment suggests perceived partisan discrepancies in reactions to policy decisions affecting farmers.
Later that day, Vasquez referenced Rep. Nikki Budzinski’s concerns about administrative actions impacting agricultural programs: “There’s a level of uncertainty this administration is creating when USDA has cancelled contracts and frozen up to 15 programs.” This tweet underscores apprehensions regarding federal decisions affecting agricultural stability.
Gabe Vasquez succeeded Yvette Herrell in Congress in 2023 and continues to represent New Mexico’s interests at the national level.
