Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept. 2.
A U.S. Air Force MQ-9 Reaper assigned to the 49th Wing departed the runway during takeoff at Holloman AFB at approximately 8:30 a.m. MDT today. No other aircraft were involved. The remotely piloted aircraft did sustain damage. Emergency response teams are on scene at this time. An investigation will be conducted by a board of qualified officers to determine the cause of the incident. Additional details will be released as they become available.
