Elfie is bringing his four-legged friends inside because he’s getting ready for freezing temperatures Friday and Saturday! Cold temps and high winds are expected in what weather experts are calling an “arctic blast” in our area.
Elfie would like to remind you of the four P's in winter weather preparedness:
People – dress warm and cover up! Also, check on your neighbors, family, and friends to make sure they aren’t exposed to freezing temperatures. Watch for signs of hypothermia: confusion, shivering, sleepiness, stiff muscles and difficulty speaking.
Pets – keep them warm, dry, and indoors whenever possible. Make sure they have a pet bed, blankets, or towels to keep their body off the cold ground. If you can, limit their time outdoors because winter weather can be dangerous for them too!
Pipes – wrap all outdoor pipes to prevent them from freezing or leaking.
Plants – outdoor plants can also be wrapped or covered to prevent damage or freezing.
