Alan Aguilar, a senior at New Mexico State University’s College of Business, is set to graduate with a bachelor's degree in supply chain management this spring. Aguilar expressed his initial uncertainty about the supply chain management major, noting that it has gained prominence in the last two decades. He credited the program for its excellence, highlighting the shift from industrial engineers to professionals in the manufacturing industry.
Reflecting on his academic journey, Aguilar praised Dr. Pimentel, his favorite professor, for imparting practical knowledge applicable to the professional realm. Aguilar specifically mentioned an operations class with Dr. Pimentel as instrumental in his learning experience, stating, “it was probably the most important class I had to take in general at NMSU and the one that’s taught me the most.”
Aguilar emphasized the value of hands-on learning experiences, particularly with Dr. Pimentel, where theoretical concepts were directly linked to real-world applications. This approach proved beneficial during Aguilar's internship at Amazon in the summer of 2023, where he successfully undertook a significant project contributing to the company's strategic development.
Drawing from his internship experience, Aguilar underscored the importance of effective teamwork and communication in the supply chain management field. He highlighted the need for a comprehensive understanding of the industry beyond specific tasks to thrive in a professional setting.
Beyond his academic achievements, Aguilar stands out as one of the top players in NM State Esports, attracting interest from various colleges for his master's degree pursuits. Aguilar expressed his long-term goal of pursuing a career in esports, aiming to leverage his MBA for roles in esports program management or within the professional esports industry.
