New Mexico State University has announced that it will host the annual Aggie Remembrance Day on May 1 to honor NMSU students, employees, and alumni who passed away in the preceding year. The Aggie Memorial Ceremony is scheduled to take place at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the NMSU Spiritual Center.

According to Michelle Grandjean, the associate director of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs at NMSU, the university initiated a tradition two years ago to pay tribute to deceased Aggies. Grandjean stated, "Every year, a rock representing each passed student will be placed at the Aggie Memorial Plaza on campus."

The ceremony and the subsequent reception are open to the public, with the Spiritual Center situated on NMSU’s International Mall. Parking for the event is available in Lot 27, located north of the Educational Services Building. Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP via Crimson Connection. Additionally, the ceremony will be accessible virtually through Zoom.

The Dean of Students office and Student Involvement and Leadership Programs are overseeing the coordination of the ceremony, with various departments from across the campus providing assistance. For further details, individuals can contact the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs at 575-646-3200 or visit the Aggie Remembrance Day webpage.

The Aggie Memorial Plaza, situated between the NMSU Spiritual Center and Corbett Center Student Union outdoor stage, serves as a tribute to students who have passed away. The upcoming Aggie Memorial Ceremony aims to continue this tradition of honoring and remembering those who are no longer with us.
