The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department’s Youth Development & Diversion Team has been awarded Youth Program of the Year by the New Mexico Recreation and Parks Association. The program receives funds through the State of New Mexico Children, Youth & Families Department, Juvenile Justice Services Special Programs Unit.

The award reflects the team’s hard work along with their passion, creativity, and commitment to achieving outstanding results. This recognition is a testament to the team’s relentless pursuit of excellence and service.

This award is presented annually to a department or agency for an outstanding youth program conducted by a park, recreation, conservation agency, public or private non-profit agency or organization.

Candidates must be nominated by an NMPRA member. They must provide a description of the program and how it was developed. They must share the goals and objectives of the program and whether they were met. They must indicate the population served by the program and explain how it was implemented. They must also provide dates, schedules, budgets related to the program, an evaluation of the program along with photos and videos.

The team continues to set ambitious goals. They embrace challenges, collaborate seamlessly, and display an unwavering resolve to turn every obstacle into an opportunity. Their success is found in their countless hours of effort, late nights, and unwavering dedication.
