New Mexico State University’s Cooperative Extension Service is set to host the Valencia County Fall Farm Festival on Saturday, October 19. The event aims to connect community members with local producers, businesses, and programs.
Scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the festival will take place at NMSU’s Agricultural Science Center in Los Lunas, located at 1036 Miller Road. Entry costs $5 per person.
“The event provides an opportunity for agricultural education and engagement for both youth and adults that is economically feasible,” stated Crystal Anaya, Extension family and consumer sciences agent.
The admission fee includes access to a corn maze, a pumpkin while supplies last, hayrides, booths from local producers and businesses, live demonstrations, and 4-H games. Proceeds will support Valencia County’s 4-H Program.
“NMSU is directly benefitted by the community engagement and outreach of the event,” Anaya noted.
Sierra Cain, Valencia County Extension program director, highlighted that “this event spotlights adult and youth programs offered through the Extension Service as well as local producers, state programs, Ag Science Center research and provides an opportunity for NMSU recruitment through our assigned recruiter.”
The festival coincides with field day at NMSU’s Agricultural Science Center in Los Lunas. Visitors have the option to attend both events.
