Tony Marin, the assistant vice president of Student Affairs at New Mexico State University (NMSU), has been selected as this year's recipient of the Ralph B. Crouch Memorial Award. This award is given to a staff member who has made significant contributions to the university community.
Marin will be honored with the award during NMSU's Employee Appreciation Picnic on Thursday, October 31, at Preciado Park. "I am honored to receive this recognition of service to New Mexico State University," Marin stated. He added that many colleagues are deserving of this accolade and expressed his humility in being chosen for the award.
Marin, a two-time graduate of NMSU, has been part of the institution since 2001 and has served in various roles. In his current position, he manages several departments aimed at enhancing student success and social mobility, including the Student Success Center and Campus Tutoring Services.
In addition to his administrative duties, Marin has been instrumental in securing over $35 million in external funding for NMSU. Dacia Sedillo, enterprise data architect manager at NMSU who nominated Marin for the award, remarked on his dedication: “Tony truly spends all of his time advocating for and empowering students to overcome barriers...so they can achieve success."
Marin emphasized his passion for working with students and colleagues to provide necessary support services for student success. "I believe that the collective work of staff and faculty across the New Mexico State University campus foster an environment for students to excel," he said.
The recognition highlights Marin's commitment not only to administrative excellence but also to fostering an inclusive environment conducive to student achievement.
