The Las Cruces community will have the opportunity to experience agriculture, food, and entertainment on November 9. The New Mexico Department of Agriculture and New Mexico State University’s College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences are hosting the 10th edition of AG Day. This event precedes the Aggie Homecoming football game.
AG Day is a free street festival open to the public from 1 to 4 p.m., located in the Pan American Center south parking lot and Aggie Memorial Stadium northeast parking lot. The day concludes with a football match between NMSU and Western Kentucky at 4 p.m.
New Mexico Farm and Livestock Bureau and Farm Bureau Financial Services sponsor this event as Grand Champion Sponsors. AG Day offers educational booths organized by NMSU College of ACES departments, programs, groups, student organizations, local agricultural organizations, and businesses.
“Through hands-on activities, engaging demonstrations and collaborative efforts between NMDA and the NMSU College of ACES, AG Day brings agricultural education to life for staff, students and families. Together, we are cultivating a brighter future, where learning is not only impactful but also fun and interactive,” stated New Mexico Secretary of Agriculture Jeff Witte. “AG Day is a great way to come see what is new in the industry and cheer on the Aggies during their Homecoming game.”
The College of ACES aims to highlight its contributions toward advancing agriculture in New Mexico through this event.
“The NMSU College of ACES is proud to participate in the 2024 AG Day, which helps to highlight how the College’s innovative work and activities advance agricultural technology and resources in New Mexico,” said NMSU College of ACES Dean Rolando Flores. “By blending cutting-edge research with hands-on experiences, we make agricultural education both fun and easy to understand, empowering the community to shape the future of farming and ranching with confidence and creativity.”
Families can engage with various educational activities provided by organizations like NMSU’s Cooperative Extension Service, New Mexico CowBelles, Elephant Butte Irrigation District among others. Attendees can enjoy live music performances while sampling local products.
