La Sociedad para Las Artes at New Mexico State University is set to host a public reading event featuring alumna Melanie Sweeney. This event is part of the Nelson-Boswell Reading Series, which brings visiting writers to NMSU to present their work. The series honors writers Antonya Nelson and Robert Boswell, who began their teaching careers at the university.

Melanie Sweeney, known for her contemporary romance writing, will read from her debut novel "Take Me Home." Her upcoming book, "Where You’re Planted," is scheduled for release next summer. Sweeney holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from NMSU. Prior to Sweeney's reading, NMSU MFA student Mariana Franzon Erazo will present an excerpt from her thesis.

The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, at NMSU’s Creative Media Institute Theatre in Milton Hall, room 171. Following the readings by Sweeney and Erazo, a reception will be held at Bosque Brewing Company located at 901 E. University Ave.
