The New Mexico State University Foundation has launched a banner campaign to honor distinguished alumni. Over 30 banners have been installed on the NMSU campus, showcasing alumni achievements with their photos and notable accomplishments. These "Legends" banners are placed around the Horseshoe and along the International Mall for visibility during Homecoming 2024.

"This is a living, daily tribute that highlights something far beyond the university itself," said Sylvia Y. Acosta, CEO of the NMSU Foundation. "These banners shine a light on the ambition, determination and relentless drive of NMSU alumni, and showcase the impact they make in our world."

Sponsored by the NMSU Alumni Association, each 28 x 80-inch banner features an alumnus from various colleges within the university. The initiative aims to celebrate diversity and talent among graduates as many return to Las Cruces for Homecoming weekend.

"We are incredibly proud of our graduates, and what sets us apart is the lasting impact our alumni have on their communities through the remarkable work they do every day," stated Mayra Marquez, assistant vice president of alumni relations and annual giving. "We hope everyone who sees these banners—especially our students—will see a part of themselves in these stories and recognize that with hard work and a strong foundation from NMSU, nothing is impossible."

The campaign spans over 50 years of NMSU history and seeks to strengthen emotional ties between alumni and their alma mater while highlighting shared legacies. To nominate an alum for future recognition, contact can be made via email at alumni@nmsufoundation.org.

In addition to these banners, 200 yard signs with messages like “We really are New Mexico!” will be displayed across campus to welcome returning alumni.

Established in 1959, the NMSU Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering relationships with alumni and supporters to secure resources that support New Mexico State University's mission.
