The City of Las Cruces has appointed Hector Terrazas as the new Deputy Director for Natural Gas and Energy. This decision was made in early December.

Terrazas started his career in public service in 2007, working as a roadway inspector with the New Mexico Department of Transportation. In 2008, he joined the City of Las Cruces as a co-op student while attending New Mexico State University. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2011 and began working full-time with the city that same year as a Civil Engineer Associate.

He obtained his Professional Engineer licensure in 2015 and managed several capital infrastructure projects. In 2018, Terrazas transitioned to the role of Traffic Operations Engineer, where he addressed traffic concerns and worked closely with staff and the public. He advanced to Senior Civil Engineer in 2022 and received his Professional Traffic Operations Engineer certification in 2023.

"Please join us in congratulating Hector Terrazas on his new position as Deputy Director for Natural Gas and Energy."
