The University Art Museum at New Mexico State University is set to open two new exhibitions on Friday, March 21. The events, which are free and open to the public, will feature the 2025 Juried Student Show and “Trinities of Heaven and Earth.” Receptions for both exhibitions will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The 2025 Juried Student Show includes a variety of mediums and artistic approaches, showcasing works by NMSU students from various disciplines across the main campus. This exhibition offers an opportunity for emerging artists to present their creative expressions to the university and local community. Artist Carlos Rosales-Silva, known for his mural “Border Destroyer” in the Mullennix Bridge Gallery at UAM, will judge the student artworks.
“Trinities of Heaven and Earth” draws from UAM’s collection of over 2,200 Mexican retablos. These small devotional paintings have significant spiritual and cultural importance, traditionally displayed in Mexican homes as expressions of Catholic faith. The exhibition explores themes related to family life through imagery such as the Holy Family and divine guidance through depictions of the Holy Trinity.
Both exhibitions will be held in Devasthali Hall at New Mexico State University, located at 1308 University Ave. The awards ceremony for the Juried Student Show is scheduled for 6 p.m., with this exhibition running until April 12. Meanwhile, “Trinities of Heaven and Earth” will continue until March 7, 2026.
The Juried Student Show will be displayed in the Contemporary Gallery at NMSU’s University Art Museum. “Trinities of Heaven and Earth” can be viewed in the Margie and Bobby Rankin Retablo Gallery.
Further details about UAM exhibitions can be found on their website. The museum operates Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
