Las Cruces Public Libraries will host a do-it-yourself picking pads event for local residents. Scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, the program will be conducted in the Craft Room.
A picking pad serves as a sensory toy, aiding individuals who experience anxiety-induced habits such as skin picking or hair pulling as a means of self-soothing. Typically constructed from materials like silicone or slime, these pads are filled with small beads, gems, and trinkets that can be picked at and removed either with fingers or tools.
The library encourages not only those experiencing anxiety but also individuals interested in unique crafts to participate in crafting their picking pads. All necessary materials will be supplied for participants. The Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, hosting this event, is located at 200 E. Picacho Ave. on Roadrunner Transit route 1.
The library provides document availability in alternative formats. Individuals needing accommodations for disabilities to attend the event are advised to contact the library at least 48 hours prior by calling (575) 528-4102/TTY 711.
