On April 3, Las Cruces Public Schools celebrated the 2026 Campus Employees of the Year. The event honored educators, principals, and support staff for their contributions to education in the district.

Honorees from every LCPS campus were acknowledged for their work in supporting student success and their school communities. "Each honoree received flowers and a special award of recognition as they walked the red carpet, symbolizing their invaluable impact and unwavering commitment to education."

Educational Support Personnel also play a critical role, providing instruction and maintaining efficient campuses. The finalists in this category are:

- Sylvia Laborin from Zia Middle School

- Elizabeth Saenz from Centennial High School

- Alvaro Rivera-Parra from the LCPS Physical Plant

Principals are acknowledged for leadership that fosters excellence and a positive school culture. The finalists for Principal of the Year are:

- Diane Barela from Mesilla Park Community Elementary

- Cherie Love from Doña Ana Community Elementary

- Yong Vega from Sierra Middle School

These finalists were selected for dedication, innovation, and impact on students and communities. "The winners in each category will be announced on Thursday, April 25 at 6:00 p.m. during a special celebration at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum (4100 Dripping Springs Road)." The district invites the community to honor those who make a significant difference.
