Western New Mexico University enrolls 2,245 undergrads

At Western New Mexico University, 60 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 64 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Silver City enrolled 3,248 students in fall 2018, including 2,245 in undergraduate and 1,003 in graduate programs, data shows. 7.1 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

69 percent of undergraduates are residents of New Mexico, and 29 percent are residents of other states. 2 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Hispanic or Latino (44 percent) and white (23 percent).
