Fire Prevention Week is October 9-15, 2022!
Today's homes burn faster than ever. You may have as little as two minutes (or even less) to safely escape a home fire from the time the smoke alarm sounds. Home escape planning and practicing are critical to using that time wisely! Follow these simple steps to make a home fire escape plan:
* Draw a map of all the rooms in your home.
* Mark two exits from each room (usually a door and a window). Mark a path from each exit to the outside.
* Include the location of all smoke alarms in your home.
* Choose an outside meeting place in front of your home where everyone will meet upon exiting.
* Plan to call 9-1-1 from a neighbor's phone or a mobile cell phone once you're outside.
* Practice your escape plan twice a year!
