On March 5, 2024, New Mexico State University's Graduate School shines a light on the dedicated and accomplished Kari Bellavita, who has been an integral part of the administrative team.
Bellavita's journey at NMSU began in April 2019 as a temporary customer service representative, eventually progressing to the role of senior administrative assistant. Reflecting on her career growth, Bellavita shared, "In August 2019, I was hired as a full-time customer service representative, and in March 2021, I was promoted to senior administrative assistant as admin to former Dean Luis Vazquez."
As a key member of the Graduate School, Bellavita oversees a team of administrative assistants and graduate assistants, managing various tasks crucial to the smooth operation of the office. She expressed, "I support the dean, manage his calendar and assist his direct reports, which now includes, in addition to the Graduate School, the International Students and Scholar Services office, Education Abroad and the passport office."
In addition to her responsibilities, Bellavita handles in-state tuition coding, coordinates recruiting events, facilitates meetings, manages office supplies, processes travel expense reports, and participates in the hiring of staff. Despite the demands of her role, Bellavita finds joy in collaborating with her colleagues and supporting students within the office. She remarked, "I enjoy working with my coworkers and the students in our office. We work hard and support each other like a family."
