Jay Gogue, Interim President of the NMSU System | New Mexico State University
The New Mexico State University Board of Regents convened in a regular meeting on Monday and unanimously decided to kickstart a new search for the university system's next president. Chair of the Board of Regents, Ammu Devasthali, expressed the reasoning behind this decision, stating, "After careful consideration, I do not believe that any of the current finalists fully meet the needs of New Mexico State University at this critical juncture." Devasthali emphasized the importance of finding the right leader for the university, noting that while the candidates presented possess impressive qualifications, the search for the next university leader continues.
The Board of Regents also approved the hiring of a new interim president following the upcoming departure of Jay Gogue in June. Gogue has been serving in the interim president role since last April. Devasthali commended the efforts of the search committee and the thorough evaluation process conducted by the Board of Regents in the selection of candidates.
During the meeting, Devasthali was re-elected as the chair of the Board of Regents, with Vice Chair Christopher Saucedo and Secretary/Treasurer Garrett Moseley also retaining their positions. The board's dedication to ensuring stable leadership for the university was evident in these re-elections.
