County Planning and Zoning Commission Seeks Four New Members

Doña Ana County is actively seeking residents to join the Planning and Zoning Commission, a vital board responsible for reviewing land-use and development matters. The commission currently has four seats available for interested individuals, and applications will be accepted until Friday, April 5th.

According to the announcement, "Applications will be accepted through 5 p.m. Friday, April 5 for the four seats currently available on the commission." Successful applicants will serve on the commission for two-year staggered terms, as stated, "Planning and Zoning Commission members are appointed for two-year staggered terms."

The commission deals with a range of important issues as highlighted in the statement, "Matters historically before the commission include variance requests to land use requirements, special use permit designations; zone changes, subdivision reviews and approvals and staff decision appeals." Additionally, the commission provides crucial reports and recommendations related to the County’s comprehensive plan and Unified Development Code.

Individuals interested in applying for a seat on the commission are required to submit a letter of interest, a current résumé, and three letters of reference. The application packet can be emailed to Eileen Garcia at eileeng@donaanacounty.org or sent via mail or delivered to the Doña Ana County Community Development Department.

The commission plays a crucial role in shaping the future development of Doña Ana County, and new members have the opportunity to contribute to important decisions that impact the community.
