County Marks Opening of New Fire Station Serving Southern Region

Doña Ana County, NM - The southern region of Doña Ana County welcomed the official opening of the new Fire Station 2 located at 3230 Anthony Drive in Anthony, NM. The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Wednesday, March 13, marked the presence of a hub for training and infrastructure for the southern part of Doña Ana County.

"This station represents a huge milestone for us, and especially the services we can provide for Doña Ana County," stated Fire Chief Shannon Cherry. "Over the next few weeks, the final touches will be added, with an expected full operation date of May 1."

Commissioner Diana Murillo, along with other County officials, presided over the ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the station's official opening to the public. Commissioner Murillo emphasized the importance of the new fire station in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. She expressed gratitude to all those involved in its development.

The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with the latest technology and resources to support firefighters and emergency responders in their critical mission. With its strategic location and enhanced capabilities, the new fire station is expected to improve response times and effectively address emergencies ranging from fires to medical incidents and natural disasters.

The ceremony was attended by community members, local officials, and representatives from area fire departments. The event celebrated the end of months of planning, construction, and dedication. Attendees were treated to a tour of the new station, and young children engaged with firefighters, sat in fire trucks, and received Junior Firefighter parting gifts.
