The NMSU Foundation is gearing up to launch a new flash fundraising campaign, titled Founders Day: 1888 Minutes of Giving, in honor of New Mexico State University's founding in 1888. The campaign will run from 10 a.m. on April 23 to 5:28 p.m. on April 24, totaling 1,888 minutes of continuous fundraising to support 24 different programs at NMSU.
Jason Arvizu, assistant vice president of alumni relations and annual giving at the NMSU Foundation, expressed the significance of the campaign, stating, “This campaign pays tribute to the visionaries who founded NMSU over a century ago, reflecting their commitment to higher education and foresight in shaping generations of scholars, innovators and leaders.”
The initiative aims to raise $188,888 in total and attract 188 new donors to contribute towards scholarships, academic programs, research endeavors, and campus enhancements across various programs at NMSU. Donors have the option to support a wide range of areas including athletics, student services, the library, the Honors College, Arrowhead Center, as well as the different colleges within NMSU.
Arvizu emphasized the importance of donor retention rates, stating, “We will monitor donor retention rates, as they provide a measure of the loyalty and sustained dedication of our supporters over time. Acquiring new donors and reconnecting with past donors are crucial steps in expanding and revitalizing our donor community.”
The Foundation encourages donors to visit the campaign website at http://1888minutesofgiving.org to make their contributions. Additionally, donors can choose to support funds not listed on the website by selecting “Other” from the designated funds list and manually entering the fund name.
The upcoming Founders Day: 1888 Minutes of Giving campaign aligns with the trend of special university giving days and presents an ideal opportunity for supporters to contribute to the future success of New Mexico State University.
