"Borderland Storytellers, Stahmann Farms: A Legacy" is set to be taped at the KRWG Public Media studios on April 19, inviting community members, students, faculty, and staff at New Mexico State University to join the studio audience. The program will feature a moderated question-and-answer session with guests sharing their stories.

Blanca Araujo, a professor in NMSU’s College of Health, Education and Social Transformation, who lived at Stahmann Farms during her childhood, will be the featured speaker. Araujo, along with a team of colleagues, conducted an oral history project collecting the voices of those who lived and worked at Stahmann Farms.

The concept of "Borderland Storytellers" was developed by photojournalism professor Bruce Berman and geology professor Christopher Brown to preserve the history, language, and culture of the region through storytelling. The program aims to engage guests in sharing their experiences with a studio audience.

Anthony Moreno, KRWG’s content director, expressed pride in the project, stating, “Preserving these stories for the next generation to discover can be a great resource for our region.” Berman, an executive producer of the program, highlighted the significance of Stahmann Farms and the communities that thrived there in the past.

"Borderland Storytellers" is a collaborative effort between KRWG Public Media, the NMSU Provost’s Office, the Center for Latin American and Border Studies, NMSU’s Department of Journalism and Media Studies, and the Creative Media Institute.

The program is scheduled to air on KRWG-TV on May 2 at 7 p.m., with rebroadcasts on May 4 and May 5. Additionally, it will be available for live streaming on www.krwg.org.

The initiative aims to showcase the rich history and experiences of individuals connected to Stahmann Farms and provide a platform for storytelling and community engagement.
