The New Mexico State University’s Chile Pepper Institute is gearing up for its annual spring plant sale on April 18-19 at the Fabián García Science Center. The event, starting at 9 a.m. each day, will offer a wide array of plants grown by the Institute staff and NMSU students.

According to April Beauchemin, the program specialist for the Chile Pepper Institute, customers are advised to arrive early for the best selection and bring containers to carry their purchases home.

The sale will include various chile and tomato varieties such as “NuMex Heritage Big Jim,” “Gardener’s Delight,” and “Celebrity,” as well as jalapeños, bell peppers, and super-hot peppers like the “Trinidad Moruga Scorpion.”

Beauchemin highlighted the purpose of the sale, stating that "All proceeds from the sale will benefit chile pepper research and education at NMSU."

For those interested, the Chile Pepper Institute gift shop in Gerald Thomas Hall on NMSU’s Las Cruces campus will be closed on April 18 but will reopen at 9 a.m. on April 19.

For more information about the event, individuals can contact 575-646-3028 or email cpi@nmsu.edu.
