The Technology Support Services (TSS) team at Las Cruces Public Schools (LCPS) has been awarded the NMSBA Excellence in Student Achievement Award.
Board Secretary Robert Wofford stated, “As a team, they support over 30,000 staff and student devices, maintain the entire school network, and manage the overall cybersecurity of the school district.”
Wofford highlighted the significant changes in technology roles since COVID-19. During the '23-'24 school year, the TSS team completed the installation of over 2,000 Mimio Boards across all LCPS classrooms. Additionally, they have overseen technical upgrades for all Performance Arts Labs and the Performing Arts Center at Organ Mountain High School.
“This year, all school sites have seen an improvement in the range and speed of Wi-Fi on their campuses,” Wofford noted. He emphasized that while much of TSS's work is behind-the-scenes and often goes unnoticed until issues arise, their contributions are vital to student achievement. “It’s not every year you have a ransomware [attack]. What TSS does for LCPS is essential to students and achievement. They provide a safe, secure, reliable technology experience for all learners."
Wofford expressed gratitude towards the TSS team: "We thank you very much for what you are doing on behalf of the students in our district. It’s a well-deserved honor that you have received.”
The Technology Support Services team is overseen by Matt Dawkins, Andres Chavira, and Kevin Springler.
The NMSBA Excellence in Student Achievement Awards program aims to promote student achievement within school districts and assists local school boards in recognizing individuals who have played a significant role in improving student outcomes at the local level.
