New Mexico State University has been awarded a grant that will assist Arrowhead Center in developing and deploying four Sprint Accelerators. With support from the NMSU Foundation, NMSU’s Arrowhead Center received the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico and El Paso Electric’s New Mexico Economic Development Initiative Grant.

Arrowhead Center plans to launch four Sprint Accelerators that will supply support and education for businesses across Doña Ana County. The Sprints will focus on general business, agriculture businesses, outdoor recreation businesses, and tourism businesses, aligning with some of New Mexico Economic Development Department’s target industries. These Sprints will be called BizSprint – Doña Ana, AgSprint, Outdoor Rec Sprint, and Tourism Sprint. The first program is scheduled for this fall.

To obtain this grant, applicants had to demonstrate their ability to create economic growth in Doña Ana County.

“These Sprint programs will provide critical support and education for small business owners in Doña Ana County, in key industries that will stimulate the number of local jobs and income in the local economy,” program lead Kristin Morehead said. “With dedicated support from organizations like El Paso Electric and the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, we are able to support small businesses across the county.”

Sprints are six-week virtual business accelerators that assist business owners in creating and developing their business model, connecting owners with business resource service providers, and learning business strategies.
