Most City of Las Cruces offices will close on Monday, November 11, 2024, in observance of Veterans Day. Essential services such as police and fire departments will continue to operate.
The facilities that will not be open include A Fielder Memorial Safe Haven, City Hall, Castaneda Service Center (Parks & Recreation Administration Offices), East Mesa Recreation Center, Youth Development & Diversion Learning Center, Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, the Las Cruces Museum System which encompasses Branigan Cultural Center, the Museum of Art, Museum of Nature and Science, and the Railroad Museum. Additionally, all public libraries including Thomas Branigan Memorial Library and its branch at Sage Café will be closed along with Meerscheidt Recreation Center, Rio Grande Theatre, Senior Programs facilities and services, South Central Solid Waste Authority administrative offices, and Visit Las Cruces.
Services that will remain operational include solid waste collection for residential and commercial customers scheduled for November 11. The Foothills Landfill at 555 S. Sonoma Ranch Boulevard will maintain regular hours. RoadRUNNER Transit and Dial-A-Ride services will run from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., while all city transit facilities will remain open during these hours. The South Central Solid Waste Transfer Station located at 2865 W. Amador Ave., Corralitos Landfill, and county collection sites are expected to offer regular service hours with scheduled curbside collections proceeding as usual.
Furthermore, Las Cruces Natatorium is set to operate from 7:30 a.m. to noon alongside the Regional Aquatic Center's upstairs fitness area; however, the pool there remains closed due to resurfacing work.
